Chapter 16

Finn burst into her bedroom, a wild look in his beautiful mismatched eyes. He threw her onto her bed, ripping Ivy’s nightgown down the center. It was tossed away, forgotten.

Heat pooled in her core. It longed to be filled with him, his tongue, his cock. All of him. He crawled over her, his body heavy, pulsing with heat. His lips trailed up her throat, nipping, biting, marking her as his.

Another lick ripped her from her dream.

Ivy shook off the last of her lust as she cracked her eyes open. A pair of beady eyes surrounded by black fur greeted her good morning.

“What the fuck?!”

The raccoon perched on her belly squeaked. It rolled off her and onto its back, its little paws flailing before it righted itself with an indignant chitter. Ivy pushed herself away as it approached, falling off her bed with a loud thud. The comforter and the raccoon were dragged along for the ride. Both screamed, the furry creature running circles over her tangled body, dodging her swinging limbs.

“Finn! Fuck fuck fuck! It’s going to bite me!”

The door flew open and Finn charged in, dagger in hand. His ferocity dimmed as he surveyed the situation, blade returning to its sheath. “Ah, I see you’ve met Maximus.”

“Maximus? Who the hell is…?” Ivy’s back hit the nightstand as her furry visitor approached. “The raccoon?!”

“Yes.” Finn gave a sweeping gesture towards it. “Meet your familiar.”

Ivy gaped like a wide mouth bass. “My what?”

Maximus scrambled up her back and settled on her head. With a slow hand, she reached up, giving his rump a nudge. He slid down obediently, letting out a little whistle before trotting to her front and plopping himself down. His shiny black eyes beamed at her as he reached forward, pressing a black paw on her knee. Dear Brigid, that was cute.

“I don’t have a familiar, Finn,” she said.

A vainglorious grin spread wide across the satyr’s face. “You do now!”

Finn bent, hands resting on his knees, as he clicked his tongue. Maximus scampered over, climbing on his shoulder to nuzzle his ear. Ivy’s heart turned over with a thud. If that knee pat wasn’t the most adorable thing she had ever seen, this definitely was.

“Maximus will be your eyes, ears, protection, and support for when you’re in one of your panic attacks.” Finn scratched Maximus under his chin. “I once tried to get one for Callum but he kept scaring them off. You’re far more agreeable though and Maximus here volunteered the minute I asked. Said he’d be stellar at the job.”

Ivy was sure her eyeballs were going to pop out of her sockets with the way she was staring.
